Yes - I'm here. I'm Juliet and I'm an alcoholic from
Wales in the UK. It's wonderful to have this facility -
meetings are very scarce in this part of the world so
it's great to know I can stay in contact with fellow
sufferers via the internet. It would be easy to isolate.
I've just started a meeting here in Lampeter; last
Friday was our first meeting and three of us attended.
I've been sober for two and a half years and I've just
begun a university course. I'm a very grateful,
recovering alcoholic and I could never thank AA
enough for saving my life.

Welcome, Juliet -- three people is a fine start -- our
Eleventh Step meeting here in Maine, USA had 2 to 4
people for MONTHS! We're now running 7 regularly,
but it took almost a year (1100 people in our town)

TO THE STEERING COMMITTEE: Great job, and
excellent new format for this site -- you have certainly
been brain-storming! I love having the meeting
up-and-running as soon as the site is cleared. How I
love being part of this experiment in world-wide
fellowship!

Hi, my name is Diane and I am a grateful recovering
alcoholic.

I recently acquired this computer so I am extremely
new. However, I'm grateful that this meeting is here,
available in my home. I get to about 2 meetings a
week now. My most important meeting is the 12-Step
meeting.

I asked my Higher Power to help me in this new
endeavor. Hope to hear from you soon.

compare to the real meetings but i really thank god
this is here. This channel to you has helped me keep
my sanity. I thank god for another 24 hours and all
you people I knew the most important thing I had to
get done was to stay sober this day then it is a very
good day. love to all of you on your road in recovery.

Richard G. is here, anyone else out there? I have read
and attempted to contribute to the current meeting, for
some reason after I tried to reload It caused multiple
postings. Well Huthcinson, Kansas is quiet and dark
except for the night owls. What a suprize to see
members from the U.K. and Maine sharing with us
today! Sunday night always seems so blue to me, but
for the grace of God, monday morning could seem
even worse. I guess that is all I have for now.

Hi, this is Diane R. again. I found this site Sunday
afternoon (11/9) and I'm so grateful that I did. I'm
going through a difficult situation right now. But I
know that with the help of God and my friends in AA I
will get through it just fine.

I must have an attitude of gratitude and no matter
what is going on in my life God will be there to guide
me and give me strength.

Thanks for being here for me.

I'm new to this online meeting stuff, but I find it
helpful to be able to logon and read encouraging
words of strength and hope. I've been having a
difficult time with some depression lately. I pray to

guidance to make it through another day clean and
sober. I know it is only through God and AA that I am

Happy 9th birthday John R. I celebrated my 4th last
month. Sobriety is great isn`t it? I`m new to this
meeting. I used to subscribe to another online AA
meeting, but things began to get ugly, so I
unsubscribed and thought I`d give this one a try. I`m in

to continue through the week.

going to a meeting and sharing there. Happy birthday

I'm Pete - alcoholic. Since this seems more like a
post-it-note site I hope Debbie reads this. The
old-timers in this fellowship have told me many times
to pick up the phone before you pick up that drink.
Call your sponsor or an AA friend and ask for help.
The time doesn't matter. Your sobriety does.
Dropping to your knees and asking for help won't hurt
either. Good luck and GOD bless. I'll check back in an
hour to see how your doing.

Hi, I'm Tom and I'm an alcoholic from Pennsylvania.

I think this is a great idea for passing the message,
enhancing our sobriety, and having some fun. (We
need all three!) The Coffee Pot is a great idea for my
off-topic discussion. I hope this begins to catch on a
little more.

I believe I heard some of the founders of this group at
a panel discussion on AA Online during an recent
conference in the Poconos. I expect that any AA group
that attempts to follow the traditions will grow in a
fashion similar to how we grow as we follow the
steps.

Anyway, glad to be here, and I'm looking forward to
getting to know all my Cyber AA friends a bit better.

we all found it very interesting, and we hope that, if
we follow the Traditions to the best of our ability, that

Hi everyone! I'm really enjoying reading the positive

I live close to Ann Arbor in the Southern part of the

a guy go off the road in front of the house and hit a
tree. He wrecked his truck and didn't want me to call
911 because his didn't have a license. I definately had
some gratitude. Diane G. - Yes, I do go to the Saline
Friday night Women's meeting. It has been one of the
best things I did for my recovery. Making true
friendships with other recovering women. Robie G. - I
too am a student, just part time for now. I'm finding
the online AA to be helpful to me when I can't get to a

Good morning from Canada where the snow is
falling.

Eric E. Happy 8th birthday!

John R. Happy 9th birthday!

Pete396, congratulations on being there for your son.
I also know what it was like to miss out on lots of
great stuff with my kids because alcohol controled my
life.

I am so greatful to have finally hit my bottom and as a
result, found AA and my Higher Power who today I
know are responsible for helping to save my life.

Have a wonderful 24 hours each and everyone of you.

Lorraine

Hi Everyone,

I've been in the program on and off since 93. Since
then I have had multiple relapses. I checked myself
into rehab last month. While I was in there I
completed my 5th step for the first time which made
me feel quite good. There is not many meetings where
I live so I thank God for this site. If anyone out there
is interested my e-mail address is
webwilly@hotmail.com. I would like to here from
any and all who would like to write. Thanks for being
here! Stay Clean, One Day At A time!

Is this really going to help? I know I'm an alcoholic,
but I'm not as optimistic as everyone else. Meetings
turn me off. People turn me off. I just want to stop
drinking, but I don't think I can deal with the program,
after all. Where else can I go?

thats not the problem. I am my own problem. Havent
had time YET to read all the stuff in here. The
meetings are workin, hope this does too. Been drinkin
and druggin since age 10 and I have seen bottom at
least 2x. Im 41. afraid of this stuff (online).Weird
because onlin is ME. Pc Tech,Dos, win95,os2....etc.
Today was selfish topic, duh.. I passed. after about 10
people, I wanted to say HEY, I wanna help somebody
so I would be helped, they say it works that way.
Damn, still selfish, I might as well be a shell fish.
anyway,Im not counting the days because that is my
punishment to myself, I dont deserve any accruement
of sobriety. When Ive gone a long time then I will get
so self esteem. How can I help you, if I cant help
myself?....Im babbling..sorry. Love pat for now, Dont
give up, give it a chance see I dont even know the AA
stuff to say, but thats what i mean...FOGGY

To Chris W. and my other friends out there in
syberland.

You only have to take care of today- and many of us
know our "higher Powers" only give us that which we
can handle in a day.

Check out the limerick at the end of my comments

Carol:

Pain is the best motivation for us drunks, but I hope
you don’t have to go too far. I used to call some
people friends that I haven’t talked to since I quit
drinking, but I have a lot of people in my life to day
that love me and I love them. Don’t drink, go to
meetings and get on your knees as ask for help. When
I pray tonight I’ll be praying for you too. Stick out
your hand and let your Higher Power and AA lead you
to a wonderful life.

Thanx Carol for the honesty. If we're powerless we're
powerless, not just you but all of us. I've never had 73
days of sobriety but after 60 days it does feel better.
It's scarry to think that I could make it to 73 days and
fail. How others can continue with their sobriety is
amazing. I don't think I could get even this short
distance without gOd.

I have a new understanding of "Friends" since I came
in the program.

And what a difference! These people really care. This
journey is worth it, DONT DRINK EVEN IF YOUR
ASS FALLS OFF.... just pick it up and go to a
meeting!

Hugs, fellow trudgers, is anybody here? First time in
this room. Carol just read your comments, Man can I
relate. before I got here I was an emotional flatliner
with a hole in my gut that never felt filled up or
satisfied, kept doing the same things over and over
again expecting different results, was like a
merry-go-round I couldnt get off. I felt helpless and
hopeless, for good reason, I was. then one night I
called a friend who I used to drink with and asked her
if she was still going to THOSE meetings and if she
would take me with her, she took me the next day,
since then, I have found that the friends I thought I
had, weren't really my friends, and the hole in my gut
has been filled with joy and love. My life makes sense
and I am happy and fulfilled. the day I came in they
told me the secret was, dont drink between meetings,
read 60 thru 63 and 449 thru 452 daily, accept any
tools offered, at least try them, do it one minute at a
time when one day is too long, and get a sponsor and
make my bed everyday. I figured I'd give these flakes a
yr and I'd prove it wouldnt work for me. That my
friend was 17yrs ago and I havent had a drink or drug
since. God Bless AA

TessK, Keep coming back and keep an open mind
because one onf these days, you are going to hear
something that you will identify with. One day at a
time is the key and if you can find a meeting to go to
then that would be a bonus for you. You have lots of
people here who care and will listen. Your honesty is
refreshing.

Chris W, I am going through similar difficulties and I
can relate to the stress. It helps a great deal to keep
going to meetings and sharing with people that I know
care. Hang in there... although it may take a little
while, it can only get better. Many more 24 hours to
you.

CarolL, Plan to go to a meeting, you will find lots of
love, caring, sharing and friends who will love you for
who you are not who they think you should be.

Still snowing here in Canada... a little messy driving
but it is pretty to see!

Have a super day everyone!

Hi everyone, I would really like to welcome all the
newcomers and all our new members. I just thought
that everyone would like to know that we have 96
members from all over the world. If your anniversary
is in November and you joined the group recently
your name will be added to the list as soon as
possible. There are alot of e-mails I have to go
through a day and am very grateful to see the amount
of participation we have and how much we have
grown since we opened up to the web. I would like to
thank all the members that have volunteered for the
e-mail sponsorship program. It is already in action,
and working well. Hope everyone has a great sober
week. Thanks for helping me stay sober and keeping
me very busy doing service.

It's good to see newcomers here, sharing their feelings
and problems. That's what AA is all about: one
alcoholic reaching out to another.

How can we describe the experience of getting sober,
and of sobriety? For me, it was a kind of "leap of
faith." When I first came around to the rooms, I heard
this: When you come to the end of your rope, let go! I
WAS at the end of my rope, so I had to let go of what I
was holding on to (my old life and my old ways of
thinking) and let AA help me. I went to meetings
where people were serious about their sobriety and
about helping others. I stayed away from those who
weren't.

It works. A day at a time, don't take the first drink.
From sunup to sundown, all you have to worry about
is not taking the first drink, for one day. All the rest
will work itself out. Go to meetings. Ask for help. If
there's someone who needs it, GIVE help. Use the
Steps. Get a sponsor.

It gets better. Peace to all -

Dear Carol,

Thanks for sharing. I only have 40 days sober (today)
but I am happier to be alive today than I have been
since my divorce over a year ago.

I have found that reading and re-reading the first step
and the third are really helpful to me. If you can admit
that you are powerless over alcohol, and then ask for
the willingness to let God take the steering wheel,
then you can make it through the day. I also rely on my
sponsor heavily; just hearing her say "you're going to
be okay, that's normal" helps me put things into
perspective.

Keep it simple.

Hi everyone. This site is wonderful. I've seen a lot of
honest sharing this week. I welcome the newcomers to
AA and let you know that we've all been where you
are right now. Before I could accept going to
meetings, I needed to completely surender to my
disease. After I first acknowledged that I was an
alcoholic, it took me 5 years to come to the program.

Tess and Carol, don't take that long to surrender. I
know that the only place I can go to get help is AA. I
can tell you from experience that you will get more
than a day of sobriety in the halls of AA. I was told in
the beginning to read page 449 in the "Big Book" over
and over.

I was also told to say the following prayer when my
mind would race, "Please God, don't let my thoughts
disturb my peace of Mind". To this day, if I go to bed
and my mind starts to race, I keep repeating this prayer
and go to sleep.

Well, I won't be going to a meeting tonight. The roads
here are treacherous. I thank God for the "Coffee Pot.

Have a great sober night.

Johnie,

That is sooo great, I am so proud of you! All of us
started out with just one day! Slowly but surely your
new eyes will open to see more and more of a very
beautiful sober world out there and all of it's joy. It
has been one year for me and the best year of my entire
life. God has surely blessed me with this great gift.
Trust in him and use the fellowship of recovering
alcoholics for support.

Again, I am soo proud of you, GREAT JOB!

Hi.....Rita, alcoholic from Indy here....

Birthday congrats to Eric and John.......

Well recovery wishes to Diane's husband.......

TESS, of course there are other ways to stay
sober......you can "white-knuckle" it (in which case I
have seen people stay dry and miserable).....you can go
to a church......(which I have seen work)...there are
other recovery programs.....BUT, the MOST
successful to-date is AA!

That is why "we" Keep Coming Back! Not too many
of us came here, thinking WOW, this is great! We
came here because we had reached the depths of
despair and knew not where to turn! I was told to go
to 30 meetings in 30 days and to Keep an Open Mind!
If I didn't like it, I was welcome to leave and they
would return my misery! Hope that you find whatever
it is that you Need! I have found what worked for me,
right here, as have thousands of others!

Please e-mail me, if you care to.....rmerrill@mibor.net

Hello... My name is Rodney B. and I'm an alcoholic
living in New Mexico... I've been trying to find a "real
time" meeting and not just a BBS where you post a
message and wait for days for someone to respond...
I'm using Micorsoft Inernet Explorer V4.0 and would
rather not download all this "IRC" stuff like someone
said I would have to... I'm a firefighter/EMT and it
makes it hard to attend an actual meeting... Heck I've
been sober now going on five years and still haven't
been able to get my four year coin... hehehe... I know
it's just an inanament object but my three year coin
sure helps me stay sober since I play on a pool league
that requires you to play league in the bars... Please, if
anyone can tell me where to go from here, I really
would appreciate it... Or you could e-mail me at
rod734@lobo.net Thank you...

Hi everyone this is my first time with this group. I was
sober for 6 yrs and thought that since my life had
changed for the better that maybe I could start having
a few drinks well I did and a few drinks lead to more
drinks and now my life is messed up again. There is a
good change I will loose my husband when he finds
out how I have mess things up, money, past bills, etc.
But I realized last night that I am going to start again
one day at a time. The hardest thing is going to be
telling my husband what I have done. When I was
drinking I tried everything to try and fix my messes but
nothing work, so now I'm back where I belong
because I know that god will help me through this.
