Hi, everyone. My name is Judy, and I'm an alcoholic. The topic I propose for the week is this: How do you use the Steps to live your life? I was told early on that ALL THE ANSWERS to life's problems are in the Steps. I thought this was nonsense, because my problems were more complex than that! Now, of course, I understand that if I'm trying to control my kids, I can (and should!) do a mini-4th step first. It saves a lot of misery! If I'm fearful about the unknown, I can do an 11th. Wisdom comes in knowing which Step -- or Steps -- might be appropriate. A simple Program for complicated people? Perhaps. A profound program, undoubtedly. A Program that WORKS! How do you weave the Steps into your life?

Good one Judy. First I guess is Step 10, which 'unfortunately' is one I use a lot, although I’m having to apologize less which I guess would be 7 & 11. When I’m right and everyone else is wrong, it’s Step 4, or when I’m doing it my way it’s time for Step 3. Step 2 is a big help for those times when I think I’m just way to loony to make it. I’ve also taken Step 12 'a step further' (not the 13th step you gutter heads) by trying to help out in my church and in the community. Simple, but not easy, which reminds me of a conversation I had with a friend yesterday about the fact that 'The more difficult something is, the more rewarding it seems to be'. Thanks.

Hi all Joanie alcoholic here, I find that in the beginning I used the slogans over and over until they were incorperated into my life and thinking. Later each step would become a new clue as to solving my problems. Thanks Judy this is a thought provoking topic that will stay with me today. Each day I work these steps more insight comes into my bieng as to remaining the magical word which is comfortable. My most important step is Step # 1,without that I have nothing followed closely by #2 and #3 they alway let me know where I stand in the world and if I follow them with faith and trust and commitment I have the power and conviction to do the next cleansing steps to try to rid myself of the pastideas and actions that were planted in my head and heart by my family's misconception of what life and love were all about. my maintenence steps are what I use today to measur if I am bieng a good person and carrying God's message and doing His work to the best of my ability. This all works on a magical slide that adapts itself to every situation in my life, and above all keeps me productive and happy. Love to all joanie 0

Hi My Name is J.D. and I am an Alcoholic, And I feel close to my God today. i got into AA thru step 3. I think I took that step about two years before I came to the program and once I joined AA I just kinda lived there. I like the steps because I found magic in them, especially in step 10. I have seen so many impossible situations turn 180 degrees just because I was willing to look at my part of the problem instead of trying to tell you what your part was. However the real secret of my emotional sorbriety is step 11, keeping the conscious contact. Meditiation and pray, the secret weapons of sobriety.

I'm Barry and I'm an alcoholic,Like Thomas I just wanted to read this week I kept trying to think of my favorite step, like Perry summed it up its all of them together. But the most important to me is the First step as Art D. used to tell me,it's the only step I have to work 100% everyday, all the rest are a bonus.

I am so grateful for what this program has given me!

Thanks

Hi All! I'm Mark and I'm an alcoholic.

I'm real glad to see this meeting here. Like Joanie and Tim said, the most important step to me is step 1. I don't get that one right I die, and thanks to all the rest of the steps I have too much to live for now.

Thanks, Mark
