Should we open our meeting to the WWW via links on other web sites and search engines?

Or should we continue to gain new members only by word of mouth?

I vote to open a seperate home page identical tpo this one and try it on the web. The only difference,... a different adress. Try it for a month and see what happens. I would like to volunteer my efforts and time to learn how to help in the maintenance and work connected with this. Let go Pioneering!

I vote to set up a seperate new web page that isidentical to "Staying Cyber" except it would have a diffeent adress. Try it for one month. Decide at the end of the month if we want to continue with these efforts.

Identical page, all of our sharing, but seperate adress for them folks out there to respond to.

I volunteer my time to learn and help in the maintenance of these sites. Lets go pioneering!

As a member my opinion has changed on this subject due to being enlightened by some other members. In the beginning I thought that we should move to the open web ASAP, but now I realize that we are not ready. I don’t think that we should underestimate this massive undertaking. I think that we should stick with word of mouth for a while.

As a Trusted Cyrvant I’m afraid that two meetings would be too much work. However if that’s what the group conscience decides then I would be willing to give it a try.

Again, I agree with everyone! I love Perry's suggestion, but I'm concerned about the server capacity. I am going to defer to Tim G and Barry on this issue. If we have the technical ability...lets go. If we don't...go slow!

It's hard to go BACK once we're committed to the whole AA world. Besides, word-of-mouth means we have some sense of the dedication of the person (remembering JD's warning about lunatic fringe.) Word-of-mouth is more likely to be balanced, slow, thoughtful -- things I traditionally knew little of, but am still learning from the Program. (Ahem!)

I believe we should go slow and see where this is in three months and then discuss it again. I honestly thought we would have more committed members then we have now.

Personaly

I would eventually like to see the site open to the web.

But it seems like the group is favoring word of mouth for now, as others have already pointed out, participation has droped, could be just a slow week or something more.

I suggest everyone send our address to 2-5 AA's online that we know personaly, this week and see if we can draw some more members.

As a Trusted Cyrvant,

I'm of like thinking with Tim G. if the members want to open up or try a dual meeting,I will commit to maintaining the site,on the technical end.

On Perry's suggetion of duplicate meetings with different adresses we'll have to research that and see if it's viable

At the present we should keep the site by word of mouth. In the future after we can make an informed decision on having an open web site. I believe if we use word of mouth, the site will continue to be utilized by more people. Also, is it possible to have it published on a district or intergroup meeting list? Not quite open, but accessible to a lot more people.
